Port Elizabeth police have confirmed that little Sonja Payi, who's body was found on Monday, had died as a result of being electrocuted.
Police spokesperson, Captain Andre' Beetge, says a post mortem had also revealed that the seven-year-old girl had been raped.
The little child went missing on Saturday night, allegedly after being abducted by a man who walked off with her.
Her body was found in an open veld in Struanway on Monday.
Beetge says the area where her body was found was littered with illegal electrical connections.
No arrests have been made.
Meanwhile, Beetge says a man who dropped his pants and chased a schoolgirl around in New Brighton on Monday morning, is recovering in hospital after being assaulted by members of the community. He says the drama unfolded in Tabata Street when the 18-year-old girl was waiting outside a house to go to school.Beetge says members of the community had mistakenly believed that the man was linked to the abduction and murder of little Sonja Payi.
