The Gqeberha man who was arrested for the murder of his mother in her Park Drive flat may have had a change of heart.
Thirty-three-year-old Maurice Butlion made a second court appearance on Thursday for the murder of his mother, 65-year-old, Sharon-Ann, in a suspicious fire that engulfed the flat last month.
During his first court appearance he communicated to the court that he intends to plead guilty, but on Thursday it seemed like he made an about-turn.
His new intentions were communicated to the court by the prosecutor during the court appearance.
The accused shuffled into the dock wearing a worn-out navy t-shirt, tucked into his tracksuit pants.
Magistrate Abigail Beeton remarked that the accused looked confused, however, he indicated that he was okay.
He will be back in court on the 7th of November.
Butlion was arrested at an establishment in Walmer a day after his mother's vehicle was found abandoned along Victoria Drive.
