Slain Bay police officer's alleged killers back in court again

Two of the three men who were allegedly involved in the killing of Bay policeman, Constable Callan Andrews, made a brief appearance in the Gqeberha Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

The other suspect is a mino,r and appeared at Nerina House Youth Centre last month and is due back in court again on 18 March.

Andrews was gunned down in Helenvale on New Year’s Eve shortly after helping to push a police vehicle that had broken down.

The young police officer was accorded an official state funeral earlier this year.

The accused, Damian Brookes, Chadwin Visagie and the minor, face charges of murder and theft of a state firearm.  The Hawks said earlier that the firearm was recovered.

The case against the two was postponed to 21 May for further investigation.
