Six arrested in Cradock dagga bust

Six suspects are expected to appear in the Cradock Magistrates Court this week following their arrest on the N10 for the illegal possession of dagga with an estimated value of R1.7 million rand.

Spokesperson Captain Lariane Jonker says police received information from a source which led to the successful apprehension and arrest of the six men on Monday.

She says they were travelling in a Quantum minibus taxi with a trailer on the N10 National road towards Cape Town when police pulled them over at about 7 pm.

Jonker says police searched the vehicle and confiscated 557 kilograms of dagga.

The men between the ages of 18 and 42 were arrested on the spot and their vehicle and trailer confiscated.

They made a brief appearance on Tuesday and were remanded in custody.
