East London police used rubber bullets and stun grenades to disperse residents of Scenery Park who set up burning barricades on the road leading to the township on Tuesday afternoon.
Residents told Algoa FM News that some members of the community became angry when municipal personnel began tearing down structures that were being erected on an open piece of land along the road at the entrance to Scenery Park.
Police spokesperson, Captain Stephen Marais, says when they arrived on scene residents had set up barricades using concrete blocks as well as burning tyres and other debris.
He says no arrests were made
