Police in Kariega have arrested two male suspects, confiscated two firearms and recovered stolen goods following a brazen armed robbery of a second-hand dealer at the Corkwood Mall.
Captain Andre Beetge says several armed robbers entered the store around 1.30 pm on Tuesday and held the staff at gunpoint.
They fled in a white Nissan NP200 bakkie with several cell phones, laptops, cash and other valuable electronic items.
Captain Beetge says the panic alarm was activated and police pursued the vehicle in the direction of Despatch.
When the driver of the bakkie lost control on Khozi Street in Khayamnandi, all the robbers jumped out of the vehicle and tried to flee.
Two of the suspects drew firearms on the police and were shot and wounded in the legs and arrested.
The other six suspects managed to evade arrest.
