The Eastern Cape Health Department has not yet paid a Grahamstown woman who won a court order for damages after a surgical swab was left in her abdomen during a hysterectomy at Dora Nginza Hospital.
Last week the Sheriff obtained an order to attach the Department's furniture, equipment and vehicles.
Last September Cecilia Goliath was damages in the amount of R250 000.
DA spokesperson on Finance, Bobby Stevenson, says it's a disgrace that six months after the court ruling the Bhisho Health Department has not yet paid Goliath.
He says the DA will be use the Legislature's oversight mechanisms to pursue the matter.
