A number of beaches at Port Alfred have been closed to bathers because of suspected shark activity in the area.
Captain Mali Govender says an adult dolphin washed ashore on Saturday morning at Kelly's Blue Flag Beach.
It showed signs of being attacked by sharks and in sending photographs to a local shark expert, it was decided to close kelly's for swimming for the day.
Blue flag lifeguards remain on duty.
Captain Govender says that as a safety precaution and until further notice, no swimming should take place at the following Port Alfred beaches either - east, west, halfway, Shelly and flame lily beach.
