Police are investigating a case of house robbery after three men stormed into a farmhouse outside Jeffrey's Bay in the early hours of Friday morning.
Sergeant Majola Nkohli says three men, one armed with a firearm, entered the farmhouse through a kitchen window at around 2.40 am.
The homeowner was awoken and reached for his own firearm.
Sergeant Nkohli says several shots were exchanged between him and one of the suspects.
The suspects took a laptop and wallet with cash before fleeing the scene on foot.
None of the house occupants were injured and it's not clear if any of the robbers were wounded in the exchange of gunfire.
Meanwhile, Uitenhage police are investigating a case of armed robbery and attempted murder after two men, one armed with a firearm, stormed into a house in Mthengenya Street, KwaNobuhle, on Thursday night.
A 75-year-old victim was held at gunpoint and the suspects stole a plasma television, a cell phone and cash.
Sergeant Nkohli says as the robbers fled, they shot and injured a neighbour who had heard the commotion and rushed to the assistance of the plaintiff.
The neighbour was hit in the hand and treated in hospital.
Police are urging anyone with information that could assist in apprehending the suspects involved in these two house robberies to contact their nearest police station or the crime stop 10111 number.
