Vincent Park in East London closed as a precautionary measure on Tuesday.

Spokesperson, Joseph Parsley, says there were protesters outside in Deveraux Avenue and across from the Centre earlier in the day.

He says they were informed that the people were planning to come into the centre when they activated their emergency evacuation security plan and got everyone out.

Parsley told Algoa FM News that there's a strong police presence in the Vincent area with authorities on-site.

Meanwhile, Hemingways Mall followed suit following the threats received at Vincent Park.

In Nelson Mandela Bay, several malls and stores remained operational but on high alert over fears that the ongoing looting and unrest in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng will be spreading to the Eastern Cape.

Baywest Mall Centre Management confirmed that an "optional trade" was implemented for all stores at the shopping and retail centre with necessary safety precautions put in place.

This, while Greenacres, Metlife Plaza and Pier 14 confirmed to Algoa FM News that they were fully operational as no unrest was detected in surrounding areas.

Walmer Park Shopping Centre is also open for trade with additional security measures put in place.

Meanwhile, Gauteng's biggest shopping Centre, the Mall of Africa, followed suit and evacuated their premises at 2 pm.
