Seven people were killed in three separate accidents on Eastern Cape roads on Saturday evening.
Provincial traffic spokesperson, Charles Bramwell says in the first accident at around 18:00 a Toyota Avanza overturned on the N2 near Mount Frere, killing four passengers.
He says at around 23:00 a passenger bus travelling from Durban to Cape Town with 25 passengers on board, overturned on the N2 at Sugarbush, Mount Ayliff.
The bus driver died at the scene, while co-driver was transported to Mount Ayliff Hospital.
None of the passengers were injured.
Bramwell says in the third accident late on Saturday evening, two people were killed on the R75 between Port Elizabeth and Uitenhage, when two cars collided, causing one of them to overturn.
He says the driver of one of the vehicles sustained no injuries, but is being detained by the police for suspected drunken driving.
SAPS will be investigating cases of culpable homicide in all these fatal accidents.
