The court heard that Manzana and an accomplice, Sibusiso Matomana, had attacked their victims by hiding near the bus stops and robbing them at gunpoint.

Provincial police spokesperson, Captain Khayan Tonjeni, said Manzana sentenced to two life terms plus an additional 14 years for rape.

He said the 41-year-old was also jailed for “75 years for armed robbery, 20 years for attempted murder, 6 years for the possession of unlawful firearm, and 5 years for inciting rape.”

He said Manzana’s accomplice, Sibusiso Matomana pleaded not guilty of all the charges and is awaiting a new lawyer and judgement on Friday, 31 March 2017.
