A man who has been linked with the April kidnapping of a Gqeberha businessman appeared briefly in the city's Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
Running Rodney Chen, 31, was kidnapped at his business premises in Doyle Street on 5 April.
Chen, a Chinese National, owns R&R Windscreens in North End.
During his first appearance in court, Mnyamezeli Lakhona Tete, 59, was charged with kidnapping.
The Hawks arrested Tete on 9 June.
He allegedly tried evading arrest when caught about 3 km from Fort Beaufort.
In a statement sent out by the Hawks this week, they said the suspect is also seemingly linked to the kidnapping of Sonam Gajjar, 34, who was taken in her driveway on Mosel Road in Kariega on 13 March.
Tete's co-accused in the case is Mzonoxolo Grwayibana.

Grwayibana was arrested on 16 May and released on bail of R3 000 seven days later.
His case was remanded to 16 July.
The case against Tete was remanded to 18 June for a formal bail application to be brought before the court.
