A second motorist is in custody following his arrest for speeding on the N2 near Witteklip.
Provincial Spokesperson Charles Bramwell says the 27-year-old man was driving 169km/hour.
Earlier in the day a 31-year old man was arrested on the same stretch of road travelling at 182km/h in a 120 zone.
Bramwell says both motorists tried to evade the officers by refusing to stop.
They are both in custody until their court appearance.
Bramwell says during a roadblock of 4 hours a further 43 motorists were fined for exceeding the speed limit.
