The search for the 21-year-old student from Norway who went missing at Sedgefield, near Knysna last month has been called off.
Marie Ostbo was with a group of international students and was last seen on the beach on the evening of 19 April, a mere 100 metres from the backpackers in which they were staying.
A massive search operation was launched for Otsbo but only her cellphone, hat and shoes were found on the beach.
Captain Pojie says no crime is suspected.
"We have called off the search for the missing student from Norway, based on the fact that at this stage we have not found any evidence whatsoever that suggest any criminal activity, neither could we find any trace of the missing 21-year-old".
He says the scene will still be checked periodically by SAPS and anybody with information can contact the Knysna police.
