Search for missing Cozette Scheepers "scaled back"

The search for the 6-year-old Cozette Scheepers who was with her mother, Heidi and her two-year-old brother, Hugo when their vehicle went down a cliff at Voëlklip near George a fortnight ago, has been scaled back. The bodies of Heidi and Hugo have since been retrieved from the ocean.

Cozette, Heidi, and Hugo were reported missing two weeks ago when they failed to return home. A massive search was launched and the wreckage of the VW Caravelle they were travelling in was later recovered and Hugo's body was the first to be found.

Police spokesperson Captain Malcolm Pojie says they are investigating an inquest docket. Pojie says they still patrol the coastline sporadically but mostly rely on residents and fishermen to be vigilant for any debris or objects floating in the ocean. An autopsy concluded that Heidi and Hugo died as a result of drowning.
