Port Elizabethans have been asked to come out in their numbers for a Save South Africa rally scheduled for Nelson Mandela Bay this week.
Anglo Gold Ashanti chairperson, Sipho Pityana, said the campaign is calling on the public to help end the abuse of executive power in the country.
"It is aimed at explaining why we think President Zuma is an enabler for continued corruption and enlisting public support for our call to get rid of him" Pityana said.
He will be one of several keynote speakers at the event at Nangoza Jebe Hall on Wednesday afternoon.
Former ANC stalwart, now turned critic, Khusta Jack, said it's important that the people of Nelson Mandela Bay stand up.
"It is important that the people of Nelson Mandela Bay to stand up and stand up quickly and point the direction as to the opposition against state capture, corruption and of course the whole politcal mismanagement of the country" he said.
Jack, who spearheaded a consumer and bus boycott against the apartheid regime in the 1980's said Port Elizabeth has a history of resistance.
He added that the President has shown disregard for the Constitution of the country.
"Port Elizabeth in most cases has been the pioneer of taking the struggle forward at the most critcial times in history. They were the first ones to setup civic organisations, independent trade unions, youth organisations all those actions were established in Port Elizabeth, it's about time we take the lead once more" Jack said.
The next step will be launched on the 23 November based on the input from Wednesday's meeting.
