The South African Students Congress (Sasco) has warned of plans to shut down all institutions of higher learning.
The shutdown of all campuses across the country is expected to start on Monday and is part of the ongoing protests over the financial exclusion of indebted students which started at Wits.
Sasco president Bamanye Matiwane says all students must be allowed to register.
Matiwane says the organisation will also meet today with the ANC which it believes has failed the country’s students.
Students have already started protesting at Nelson Mandela University.
Meanwhile, Students at the University of the Free State (UFS) will meet on Monday following protests over registration and financial exclusion last week.
Student Representative Council president, Katlheho Lechoo, said earlier that they would meet to map out a way forward, following the arrest of 25 students.
Protests rocked other institutions, including Wits University where 35-year-old, Mthokozisi Ntumba, was killed after police took action against Wits students in Johannesburg.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate is probing the incident.
