Saps thank public for tip- off that leads to 4 arrests

Uitenhage police are grateful for a tip-off from the public which led to the arrest of four criminal suspects in the early hours of Monday morning.

Police spokesperson, warrant officer Gerda Swart, says members responding to the lead found four men at a filling station changing the number plates of a car.

She says it turns out that the vehicle had been hijacked in Kwazakhele, Port Elizabeth, on Friday.

Swart says police also found an illegal firearm on one of the suspects.

All four were arrested and will appear in court soon.

Meanwhile, more than a 100 people are appearing in court in the King Williams Town area today after being arrested in a crime swoop.

Police spokesperson, lieutenant Siphokazi Mawisa, says the arrests were made by police in the King cluster arrested after operations this weekend.

She says the suspects were arrested for crimes ranging from murder and serious assault to house-breaking and drug possession.

King Williams Town cluster commander, Henry Vos, thanked his members for their hard work.
