SAPS: No mask no entry to police stations

The South African Police say any person entering a police station without a mask will be refused entry.

Police Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says a person failing to comply can also be charged in terms of the Control of Access to Public Premises and vehicles Act.

Thousands of police officers have tested positive for  Covid-19 and police stations across the country are closing daily to decontaminate.

So far this month, nearly 200 police stations across the country have been closed after staff members tested positive for the coronavirus.

The latest police station to close for this reason in Port Elizabeth is the Algoa Park police station.

Colonel Naidu says the Community Service Centre and detective service are currently operating from the Rademeyer Hall at the corners of Leonard and Dyke Roads in Algoa Park.

The affected offices will be decontaminated and the community will be informed when they will be re-opened.
