The South African Police says it is saddened by the loss of another two members, who were killed in two separate incidents over the Christmas weekend.
Spokesperson Colonel Sibongile Soci says the 49 year old Captain Bhekisisa Maphanga was off duty when he drove his private vehicle in Addo Road, Port Elizabeth.
He allegedly parked in a yellow lane and was hit by an oncoming vehicle as he disembarked.
In another incident on Monday morning a 28 year old off-duty policeman from the Tactical Response Team was found fatally wounded at his house in Motherwell.
Soci says Constable Lukholo Nyangani and his girlfriend were both found with bullet holes to the upper body.
All possibilities in this case will be investigated.
