Eight suspects have been arrested in the past 24 hours as Port Elizabeth police continue their drive to rid the Northern Areas of the city of gang-related crimes and criminals.
Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the Visible Gang Intervention Team arrested an accused in Bethelsdorp for flouting his bail conditions while Bethelsdorp police arrested an attempted murder suspect wanted in connection with the shooting of two people on the 31st of December last year.
Colonel Naidu says that in a co-ordinated raid which began on Thursday night and ended Friday morning in the northern areas, the Provincial Gang Investigation Unit arrested 6 suspects in separate cases of murder, attempted murder and the illegal possession of a firearm.
All the suspects will appear in court soon.
