Samwu demands probe into alleged wrongdoing in Cacadu

Municipal workers' union Samwu will ask the Public Protector to probe alleged wrongdoing in the Cacadu district municipality in the Eastern Cape.
Samwu spokesperson Tahir Sema says municipal manager Ted Pillay allegedly protected employees suspected of committing fraud and corruption.
In his response, Pillay said an audit found no wrongdoing.
Sema said in July, Samwu gave Pillay documents alleging that finance manager Tilani Botes was involved in giving her husband a contract to translate various documents.
Pillay says when he received the report from the union he commissioned an auditing company to investigate the allegations.
The union says it took the matter to the CCMA, but when it was meant to be heard on the 12th of October, the municipality's representatives were abs
