Two people were killed when a runaway truck ploughed into a car in Port Elizabeth's Northern Areas.
Provincial traffic spokesperson, Charles Bramwell, said the crash occurred on the corner of Mission and Standford Roads on Monday.
According to information the brakes on the truck traveling down Mission Road had failed with the driver frantically hooting and flashing his lights to alert other motorists.
Bramwell said however that when the truck passed through the red robot at the intersection it collided with a passenger vehicle, killing two people.
He said both vehicles were towed away for further investigation while a case had been registered with the police.
The names of the victims have not yet been released.
