Eastern Cape Transport MEC, Thandiswa Marawu, will welcome 20 traffic officers from the Road Traffic Management Corporation on Thursday.
Marawu will officially welcome them to the Eastern Cape at a reception at the Department's head office in King Williams Town.
Department spokesperson, Ncedo Kumbaca, says the officers will be coming with their own vehicles and will bolster the number of traffic officers in the Eastern Cape.
"They are coming to reinforce our provincial and municipal team as we prepare for this long weekend and they are going to help us to monitor our roads and they will be working 24 hours on certain strategy groups. They have come with their own vehicles and they will help us to ensure a safe passage to all road users during this crucial period" he said.
