 A rogue baboon which roamed through several Port Elizabeth suburbs since the weekend has been shot and killed.

Arnold Slabbert of Wildline says it was not an easy decision to shoot the animal which was found at Alexander Road High School on Monday afternoon.

He says the baboon originated in the Lovemore Heights area.
It moved through Walmer before being spotted at Greenacares Village on Sunday and then to a pre-primary school on Monday.

Slabbert says they had to cull the animal as it posed a real danger to children and domestic animals.
