East London police are investigating after the brother of a Duncan Village liquor store owner was wounded in the leg during a robbery on Tuesday.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Hazel Mqala, says there men approached the victim who had gone to the liquor store to collect money.
She says the man was shot in the leg as the robbers grabbed money boxes that were placed inside a vehicle.
Mqala says a security official accompanying the victim also fired a shot leading to one of the robbers dropping a box with money.
She says police nearby responded but the suspects managed to flee with some cash, while some was also recovered.
Mqala says the wounded man was taken to hospital for treatment.
