Nelson Mandela Bay police are investigating a case of armed robbery after mohair worth R100 000 was stolen from premises in North End on Thursday.
Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the 60-year-old complainant was locking up the premises at about 4.30 pm when two men approached him on the pretence of selling mohair to the company.
She says the complainant informed him that he was not the owner and suggested they come back on Friday.
Colonel Naidu says while they were busy exchanging details, the suspects followed the complainant into the building where they threatened him, tied him up and covered his face.
The men proceeded to load six bales of mohair onto a trailer and drove off the premises.
Police recovered one bale in Paterson Road that had fallen off the trailer.
Colonel Naidu warned the public not to purchase expensive goods at bargain prices from dealers with dubious credentials.
A case of business robbery is under investigation.
