A 22-year-old man from Vermaaklikheid will appear in the Riversdale magistrate's court on Wednesday in connection with the murder of his mother.
The body of 55-year-old Fransiena van der Merwe was found last month, in bushes next to a gravel road.
Shortly after the gruesome discovery, police arrested Fransiena's son, Pieter le Roux.
The arrest sent shock waves through the Riversdale community.
Police spokesperson captain Malcolm Pojie says police arrested Pieter after he was questioned.
It is alleged that he had an argument with his mother after which she was killed.
A post mortem indicated that Fransiena was hit with a blunt object in her face.
Pieter has not yet pleaded and remains in custody.
