A grade 12 learner from Oakdale Agricultural High School in Riversdale died on Friday evening, after falling from his skateboard on Thursday.
The learner, Storm Smorenburg allegedly held onto a vehicle while on his skateboard on the school premises.
The Dutch Reformed Church Riversdale-West expressed its sympathy on its Facebook page with his parents.
Smorenburg allegedly fell backwards onto a tar road and was admitted to a private hospital in Mossel Bay in a critical condition.
A spokesperson for the Western Cape Education Department, Bronagh Hammond says the incident happened on Thursday morning at around 08:15.
She says the department has arranged for psychological assistance for the school.
