Rising interest in Garden Route as film destination

Local and international film-makers are increasingly looking at the Garden Route as a film destination.
This rising interest has prompted the George Municipality, along with the Cape Film Commission, to host a two-day workshop on the 17th and 18th of this month to discuss a range of issues that include locations, film permits, marketing and logistics etc.
According to the Manager of Local Economic Development at the George Municipality, Carli Bunding-Venter, they're inviting a host a role-players to the workshop and these include existing members of the film commission and surrounding municipalities.
"We are also inviting other role players like Sanparks anybody with property that might be suitable as a film location. We are also extending the invitation to members of the public. Service providers, rental companies, Bed and Breakfasts in the tourism industry.
Algoa FM News also asked Bunding-Venter if they're looking at positioning George and the surrounding areas as a film destination.
"We recently noticed an increase in film activities in the area and we have seen an increase of requests so seek permission to film in the area we. We think it is a good time to investigate to potential for economic opportunity" she said
