Learners at the Riebeeck College for girls in Uitenhage will be lighting candels on Wednesday as they pray for the safe return of one of their teachers, Jade Panayioutou.
Police searched through the night but she is still missing, more than 24 hours after apparently been abducted outside her residential complex in Deacon Road, Kabega Park at around 6.30 on Tuesday morning.
She had been waiting for her daily lift to Uitenhage with another Riebeeck College teacher.
The police investigation took them to Uitenhage after it was established that a withdrawal had been made from her bank account at an ATM in Kwanobuhle and a reward of R150 000 rand is being offered for her safe return.
Riebeeck College Principal Marilyn Woods says the school is filled with sadness as they pray for the safe return of Jayde, who was also a former pupil at the school.
"The atmoshphere at the school is so sad but positive, because I am always preaching the fruits of the Spirit to the children as I said to them- our faith and our hope is not going to be taken away by fear. We have every right to be sad and we are sad, but we are going to picture Mrs Panayioutou coming back to us." she said
