Rhodes University says recent water outages in the Makana municipal area are threatening to disrupt life on campus.

Parts of the city, including parts of the Rhodes University campus, have been hit by outages since Monday after a water pipe reportedly burst.

Spokesperson, Zamuxolo Matiwane.

"The constant water outages also impacted undergraduate residences on the upper campus, recently the entry level water supply has begun to have a negative impact on research capacity, particularly in the Science's. The lack of water is also a health and hygiene hazard and a threat to teaching and other activities. It also compromises the universities fire fighting capacities" he said.
