A 20-year old Rhodes University student has appeared in the Grahamstown Magistrate's court on a charge of culpable homicide.
Police spokesperson, Captain Mali Govender, says the student was arrested on Monday morning following a hit-and-run accident over the weekend in which a fellow student was killed.
Govender says the student appeared briefly in court and was released on R500 bail
The student who is believed to be from Durban handed himself over to police after the accident early on Saturday morning.
The accident victim has been identified as 20-year-old Khanya Ndimba, from Fernglen in Port Elizabeth.
The case was postponed to the 21st of July for further investigation.
