The Dr Beyers Naude Local Municipality has offered a reward to any individual that has information about vandalism at two pump stations in Graaff Reinet.
The municipality says the culprits also covered the cameras on-site to prevent footage of their activity.
The Tweede Drift pump station and the Van Der Byl Sewer pump station were targeted on Wednesday.
The damage could lead to sewerage spillages as a result of the damage to the essential infrastructure.
The Municipality says vandalism and theft are rife in the region and cannot be tolerated anymore.
Any person with information is urged to contact the police.
