An extensive search was conducted on Thursday for a Norwegian tourist who went missing in Sedgefield on Wednesday evening.
The NSRI's Craig Lambinon says the search for 21-year-old Marie Ostbo was conducted by a number of parties after she disappeared from the beach, a mere 100 metres from the backpackers where she and a group of young tourists were staying.
He says additional support came from the Skymed rescue helicopter and members of the Wilderness neighbourhood watch.
Lambinon said despite the extensive search throughout the day on Thursday, only a cell phone, hat and shoes belonging to Marie Ostbo, had been found.
He said the search will continue on Friday.
The Department of Tourism is providing the necessary support for the tour group and the consulate has made contact with Ostbo's family.
