Eastern Cape police say search and rescue teams are already trying to retrieve the bodies of four people who were killed when a helicopter crashed late on Wednesday near Lusikisiki.
Provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Sibongile Soci, says they're also hoping that the SA Defence Force would assist.
She says they received information late on Wednesday that a chopper had gone down."At about 6pm we received information that a helicopter crashed in the Port St Johns area and we could not really confirm the number of people in the helicopter. People who could see at the bottom of the cliff say that there were four people that they could visibly see. Last night we could not access the area but plans are underway now to recover the helicopter and retrieve the bodies"Soci could not provide further details of the chopper or the route it was flying.
However, the SABC reported that the Robinson44 was flying from Margate on the South Coast of KZN when it went down with four occupants on board.
