The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality urgently calls on owners of carwashes in Central, Deal Party, Summerstrand, Charlo, Newton Park, Walmer, Humewood, North End, Korsten, Struandale, Mount Pleasant, Lovemore Park, Lovemore Heights, Algoa Park, Struandale, Gelvandale, Gelvan Park as well as parts of New Brighton and KwaZakhele to consider closing their businesses until water supply return to normal in the city.
This follows after two pipelines that supply the city with water from the Churchill and Impofu dams collapsed during the early hours of yesterday (August 2) morning.
Residents are requested to use water sparingly and not to fill containers at their homes as it affects the municipality's call for water conservation over the next couple of days.
We are prioritizing the provision of water to Hospitals and Renal Centres at this stage.
At this stage the following areas could be affected by fluctuating water supply:
Newton Park, Walmer, Walmer Downs, Mangold Park, Summerstrand, Humewood, Humerail, parts of Fernglen, Adcockvale, parts of Cotswold, Seaview, Beachview, Blue Horizon Bay, Kini Bay and the top parts of Gelvan Park and Parkside.
