The Minister of Mineral and Petroleum Resources, Gwede Mantashe, says the Port of Elizabeth repair work is complete, and the port is now operational.
The temporary closure of the port has necessitated interim changes to the fuel pricing zones since October 2024.
In June, a tanker damaged the fuel berth, and repair delays caused ships to dock in East London. This caused hauliers to incur additional transport costs for collecting their products there.
The Department says it will revert to the original Magisterial District Zones of all the affected fuel pricing zones effective Wednesday.
Meanwhile, 93 octane petrol will increase by 19 cents a litre, while the price of unleaded petrol 95 will rise by 12 cents a litre.
Diesel prices will rise by 7.5 cents and 10.5 cents a litre, depending on the grade, while illuminating paraffin will decrease by 13 cents a litre at the retail level.
Spokesperson Robert Maake says the increase is due to the weaker rand against the US dollar.
