There have been renewed calls for a satellite police station in Missionvale following a triple murder that took place a week ago in broad daylight just after 5pm in Indus Street.
A possible joint funeral for the deceased, who were between the ages of 22 and 24, is being planned for next week.
Two other men were injured in the attack and have since received medical attention.
It’s believed the gruesome shooting is gang-related.
DA ward councilor Teslin Booysen said he’s held several meetings with Algoa Park police management, who had visited the crime scene, about increased police visibility in the crime-stricken area, as well as the establishment of a satellite police station.
He said the community had demanded what the police’s plan was to curb the scourge of violence.
“The district has taken a decision to make additional resources available in Missionvale,” said Booysen.
“There have been more boots on the ground, focusing on crime prevention and targeting crime hotspots. The Missionvale community has for a long time for more visible police in our area and the fact that we have more [police] vans patrolling the area now, is a victory for the community.”
The community is also demanding to know what the plan is to combat crime in Missionvale and they are asking when the satellite police station will be erected in the area,” Booysen added.
