Fishermen along the Garden Route have been warned of an approaching red tide.
The warning was sounded again on Tuesday by SA National Parks, the Knysna Municipality and the Knysna Basin Project.
They say water samples collected from two key points in the Knysna estuary have confirmed the presence of phyto-plankton in the water.
The authorities have now cautioned against fishing for shellfish in the estuary, until it is declared safe to do so.
