Raven Rungan to be laid to rest as police now investigate murder

The funeral service of the late Raven Rungan will take place at the Malabar Community Hall in Port Elizabeth on Tuesday.

The controversial local tow truck operator died from his wounds on Saturday, two-and-a-half weeks after being shot four times while he was on his way to work.

Police spokesperson Captain Johan Rheeder says the 44-year old had been in intensive care at Greenacres Hospital since the shooting.

Rungan was on his way to work at his company, V&R Towing, when a man fired multiple shots into his vehicle at a three-way stop in Kamma Park on September 16.

The attacker then drove off in a white bakkie.

Rheeder said no arrests had yet been made and police were still hunting for the shooter.

He said the case would now be upgraded to murder.
