A man from Albertinia, who raped a woman in her home, was sentenced to 64 years imprisonment in the George Regional Court on Tuesday.
The 41 year old Ivan Petersen was caught in the act in July last year, when he broke into the victim's Albertinia home and raped her.
The victim's husband arrived home and found the accused, partially clothed, inside their house.
He was found guilty in court on two charges of rape, two charges of sexual assault, house robbery and theft.
Peterson must effectively serve thirty three years behind bars.
The victim told Algoa FM News she is relieved that the ordeal is over.
Magistrate Eugenia Jacobs said during her sentencing that government is taking serious steps to take a stand in this country against abuse against woman and children,
especially against children and the elderly saying that woman and children in South Africa should be able to feel safe.
