Ramaphosa confident of ANC election victory

ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa has his eye firmly fixed on the Eastern Cape as the 2019 general elections draw nearer.

He was back in the province on Friday kicking off his weekend-long campaign in Butterworth, where he was warmly welcomed by hundreds of supporters at the Msobomvu Sports Grounds.

"I already know which political party is going to win the elections," he said.

Ramaphosa told residents of Butterworth that "there is no other political party that has the ability to take this country forward other than the African National Congress," he said.

Later on Friday, President Ramaphosa was in Buffalo City Metro, visiting Dimbaza near King Williams Town followed by a visit to Duncan Village.

On Saturday he will lead the country's Freedom Day celebrations in Makhanda, formerly Grahamstown, before visiting Uitenhage and engaging with professionals at the Coega Village in Nelson Mandela Bay metro in the evening.

He rounds off his Eastern Cape election tour in Mthatha on Sunday.
