A teacher from Pearson High in Gqeberha says her faith in humanity has been restored after firefighters came to assist her in rescuing her cat out of a car engine.
Yolande Bezuidenhout says she was busy hanging her washing on Thursday when her Ragdoll, Misty Blue sneaked out.
She says when Misty Blue saw the commotion of her escape she disappeared under the neighbours car.
Yolande says her neighbour, who was thankfully a cat owner, had to cancel her coffee date and together they struggled for over an hour to get Misty Blue to get out.
She says eventually her son ran across the road to the Fire Station in South End to ask if even just one person could come and assist.
Yolande says low and behold, four firefighters arrived on the scene within 10 minutes.
It took them less than two minutes to loosen the panel below the engine, allowing Misty Blue more space to move.
The fireman covered his gloves with catnip to not further traumatize the cat, and within minutes she was in the arms of her rescuer and jubilation followed.
The family said they were truly blown away by the friendly staff who treated their cat with the utmost care.
Misty Blue was exhausted, but unharmed during her ordeal.
