A Port Elizabeth radio presenter at a local community station, PEFM is expected to appear in court on Monday, for an alleged sexual relationship with an underage girl.
Captain Johann Rheeder says the man, in his 40s, was arrested at his Gelvandale home on Thursday afternoon.
He says the girl was 15 when the alleged relationship with the presenter, who is also a pastor, started in 2013.
Rheeder says the young girl told the Family Violence-, Sexual Offences-, and Child Protection Unit that they had intercourse on a regular basis.
The pastor also allegedly sent her explicit images of his private parts on a number of occasions by phone.
Rheeder says police are in possession of these images.
Station Manager for PEFM Ronald Johnson issued a brief statement to the media.
"The radio station has with sadness, taken note of the arrest of one of our volunteers. Since the station manager was informed, his service was immediately placed on hold. We will continue to pray for him, his family, the victim and the victims family. The alleged incident ocurred before the presenter became involved with PEFM87.6"
In August a presenter at another community radio station in Port Elizabeth (Kingfisher FM) was arrested on a charge of sexual assault.
The 35-year-old suspect is out on bail of two-thousand rand and is due in court again on the 22nd of October.
