Queenstown police have arrested a man and his wife on a charge of child neglect after their two children were found alone locked inside a shack.
Police spokesperson, Captain Namhla Mdleleni, said that police had received information that the children, aged 1 and 2, were locked inside the shack every day.
Mdleleni said when police arrived at the shack in Mlungisi on Thursday it was locked, and police managed to break the lock on the burglar gates to free the children.
She said the children’s parents were arrested late in the afternoon.
“A case of child neglect has been opened and a place of safety arranged” for the children, said Captain Mdleleni.
