Provincial traffic strike affecting exams


The Eastern Cape Education Department has urged school principals to reschedule tests if they're affected by a province-wide taxi strike on Friday.Santaco Eastern Cape said on Thursday its members would be meeting in King Williams Town for a march and motor procession to the Office of the Premier.

Santaco provincial secretary, Siyanda Mbanjwa, said they would present a petition to government raising concern about the halting of the issuing of operator permits.The Eastern Cape Transport Department says an adjudication process will commence on the 20th.But, in the meantime, the Bhisho Education Department says it's concerned about the strike's impact on learners.

We are tallking to the police to ensure that scholar transport is not disrupted"Meanwhile, the Algoa Bus Company in Nelson Mandela Bay has withdrawn its services as a result of the taxi strike.
