A large group of Walmer Township residents in Port Elizabeth is burning tyres and branches again in a protest that flared up around 4.30 this morning.
Victoria Drive is closed as is Heugh Road between 8th avenue and 11th avenue.
There is a strong police presence on the scene and sections of Villiers road have also been closed. .
Police warrant officer Alwin Labans says it is a service delivery and power-related protest and that the group is demanding to be addressed by the Municipality.
Two weeks ago, irate residents went on the rampage and set fire to a small building at the entrance to Walmer township after the Municipality moved in and started removing hundreds of illegal electricity connections.
