The R394 road connecting the N2 road from Phakade with the R61 in Magusheni is closed to traffic.
A group of people have dug up yet another trench across that road while a truck has been set alight.
A spokesperson for Provincial Traffic Unathi Binqose says motorists are urged to avoid that road as the situation is not only volatile, but the road is impassable.
He says traffic law enforcement officers and the police are on the ground, controlling the situation and giving motorists alternative routes.
In May, community members in the Mbizana dug a deep trench across the R394 heading towards Kokstad in an apparent municipal demarcation dispute.
